March 2, 2013: At last...Emerson

Today the girls and I were finally able to meet Emerson, the student my parents are sponsoring for middle and high school.
Emerson is fifteen and is in "primero básico," or approximately seventh grade.  He likes math and art, and says that his classes are not difficult.

Emerson smiles outside his house.  He lives here with his parents and four of his eleven siblings.  His mother is a homemaker, and his father works in the mountains cutting and gathering wood.

Emerson only owns one pair of shoes.  We almost bought this pair for him, but he thought they were too expensive and wanted to keep looking around.
