February 17, 2013: San Pedro

We are sponsoring a student who is in the equivalent of 7th grade in San Pedro la Laguna.  Rosario is thirteen and lives with her parents and three siblings in a one-room house with an outdoor toilet. Despite her lack of space and privacy, Rosario is able to get her schoolwork done and earn good grades.  My parents are sponsoring another student, Emerson.  He was out working on a school project when we visited his house, but we were able to meet some of his family.  Emerson is the only one of twelve siblings to attend school past the sixth grade.
