February 28, 2013: It's not zancudos, it's...chinches!

Since we arrived in Panajachel, Amanda and I have had hundreds of extremely itchy bites all over our bodies.  I was blaming this on zancudos (mosquitos/no-see-ums), but two antihistamines and two zancudo repellents later--things kept getting worse.  It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure it out, but the problem isn't zancudos...it's chinches, aka bed bugs!
So we are now staying in a small hotel room for the next four nights, while our place gets fumigated and all the bedding gets washed in scorching water and bleach.
